Beshiba Anticipates New Album With New Single

Photography: Jacob Williamson

Photography: Jacob Williamson

South Carolina's very own, Beshiba, is celebrating the upcoming release of their sophomore EP, Worthless, by sharing the second single off of the November 4th release! The song, "F.E.L" features a guest spot from Garett Hood, the vocalist/drummer of Guerrilla Warfare.

Check out the track below streaming for free on Bandcamp!

According to Beshiba, "The basis of the song came from the chant, which is rooted from the perspective of being an outcast from society and refusing to conform to the standards of every day life to which the mainstream imposes on you. It's about being a dreamer and looking beyond every day life and those precedents & values which are forced on you, and using your anger as a driving force to push through all that to achieve & get what you want out of life. On the other hand, the other parts of the song reference suburban kids who had everything handed to them on a golden plate who never really experienced hardship or poor upbringing, but try to pretend like they know what struggle is."

esides the anticipation of Worthless, Beshiba also recently announced a November tour, we've provided dates below! In the meantime, the single is available for free download on our Bandcamp as well as on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, & Google Play!

Civil Youth Announces Tour

Philly’s own Civil Youth, an alternative rock band who has opened for artists like Twenty-One Pilots, AWOLNATION, and Phantogram, have been preparing for the debut of their new album, Conversations, slated for release on May 19th. They’ve already released two songs from the album, “Belief” and “Dark Debts” (you can watch the music videos for both down below), and now they have announced that they will be going on tour following the official premiere of Conversations. Their East Coast tour kicks off at TLA in Philly on May 20th, and ends in New York in July.

Civil Youth has already toured nationally, and they bring new levels of excitement and energy to all of their live shows, which are filled with light-up drum solos, plenty of chanting from the crowd, and stage acrobatics. Within just a year of their first show in March 2015, Civil Youth grew from being local in Philly to being nationally known across the US. They’ve gotten air time on one hundred and thirty-four FM radio stations, licensing with MTV, VHI, and E!, and have released three albums (Disguised in Color, Who Rescued Who, and Ossein, an acoustic album).

I’d say that’s pretty impressive, and I’m sure the Philly fans who have been there since the beginning are extremely proud. It’s always nice to see a local band from your hometown get famous, and Civil Youth is going to keep climbing up that ladder with the release of Conversations. Look out for it on May 19th, and catch Civil Youth at any of their east coast tour dates (I expect to see a full crowd at TLA on the 20th).

You can preorder Conversations on iTunes, and be sure to get your tickets early for the show at TLA. Check out the dates below, and social media under that to stay in check with Civil Youth!

Never Shout Never’s “Throwback Tour” Adds New Member

Longtime fans of Never Shout Never will get to enjoy a blast from the past with the band’s recently announced “Throwback Tour,” where they will perform all of The Yippee EP and Me And My Uke. Me Like Bees, friends of Never Shout Never and indie pop stars of Joplin, Missouri, have been added to the tour as special guests.

Their latest EP, There Will Be Time, is available on iTunes and Spotify, and for a hint at what the band is like, you can watch them all in puppet form in the music video for their single, “Hymns and Blues.” Me Like Bees worked on their latest EP with producer John Feldmann, who has been associated with big-name artists like 5 Seconds of Summer and Panic! At The Disco. Me Like Bees is the 2014 winner of the Ernie Ball Music Man Battle of the Bands competition, which earned them the privilege of working with John Feldmann to produce There Will Be Time.

Me Like Bees formed in 2009 and has performed hundreds of shows since then; their first full-length album, The Ides, was produced in 2013, and after their win at the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands, they released There Will Be Time in April of 2014. Catch them on the road with Never Shout Never this year (tickets available through the link below), and I highly recommend checking out the puppet music video. It’s positively whimsical.

Have Mercy Announce New Album 'Make The Best Of It'

The highly anticipated third studio album from Maryland's Have Mercy was just recently announced! Make The Best Of It, will be released on April 21st, 2017 via Hopeless Records.

The 11 track record hits all the marks that Have Mercy fans have been known to love, but this album pushes the band further. Musically, lyrically and stylistically, Make The Best Of It rings loud and true throughout, being the bands catchiest and tightest endeavor to date!

The music video for their first single off of the album, "Coexist," came out on February 28th, directed by Erik Rojas (Yellowcard, Somos) the video has frontman Brian Swindle fighting himself to save his own life only to find out in the end none of it matters, and you can check it out below!

During the writing and recording of Make The Best Of It-a seven-month affair with producers Paul Leavitt (All Time Low) and Brian McTernan (Thrice) as well as writing partner and guitarist Nathaniel Gleason - Swindle made sure to internalize the essence of Have Mercy and let that guide the songwriting. The period surrounding the album was one filled with profound change, both personal and professional. The entire band around Swindle altered, with the frontman now the only original member of Have Mercy. One thing that's not uncertain is that Make The Best Of It, with all its confidence and cohesion, hasn't changed who Swindle is at all. "Everyone who worked on the album poured every ounce of themselves into this," Swindle says. "Even if nobody likes this record, we don't give a shit."
Have Mercy will be hitting the road in support of Real Friends with Tiny Moving Parts, Broadside and Nothing, Nowhere this spring. The first show is set to kick off on April 27th in Grand Rapids, MI and will wrap up on June 9th in Chicago, IL.

Check out the tour dates below!

New Found Glory Announces "20 Years of Pop Punk" Tour

Taste the edgy-ness.

Has it really been that long? I suppose so.

New Found Glory, or “NFG” if you’re cool, was a staple in the angsty teen playlist throughout the early 2000’s. Originally from Florida, they came together in 1997 and have been steadily releasing albums ever since. Singer Jordan Pundik’s nasal-y voice and surprising range gave the band an edge over the most other lip pierced groups of that time.

Their discography comes out to a whopping 15 albums (greatest hits and deluxe versions included) which is impressive for any band. From tracks like the classic “My Friends Over You” to newer ones like “Vicious Love” they’ve stuck to a similar successful formula, filling their songs with short chugging power chords underneath some simple riffs that easily become ear-worms in everyone’s head. Most people agree they were a key founder of the “Pop Punk” style but perhaps that wasn’t the best thing ever invented.

Since its birth, the genre has suffered some insufferable bands and appears to be on its last legs. But don’t expect it to go out with a bang, expect a slow, excruciating death with tours like these.

Undoubtedly they’ll fill concert halls and dimly lit venues as they always have. They’ve gone through lineup changes and various collaborations and side projects but still manage to stay loyal to their sound and their fans, and we respect them for that

Their countrywide trek starts in March and is sure to attract all the hand tattooed 30 somethings around. Check the dates below and get some info/merch on their website here!!
