Check out the video below!

"I wanted to create a song that explored the feelings of someone going through an anxiety attack for the first time, i know when i myself had my first panic attack, i felt as though something was seriously wrong, in an extreme thought even possibly dying or having a heart attack. We as humans tend to internalize our emotions when things get hectic forgetting that sometimes we need to express our feelings in however way we see fit. This song was my approach in expressing a feeling that many of us experience often," says Wilde of the track.

So, you heard it hear first, "Angor Animi" is the first track off of Lazarus Wilde's March 1st EP - so stay tuned, because if you dig this then you're gonna dig the whole damn thing. As always, social media links down below to keep up with everything that is Lazarus Wilde!

Dreamy Australian quintet, Death Bells, have recently shared a brand new, ethereal single for listeners! “Only You" is a bulwark of post-punk, built on a blunt rhythm, webbing guitar, and ardent vocals. Frosty and monochromatic, the single’s accompanying video (directed by Jai Love) encapsulates Death Bells’ fascination with the wispy romanticism of the ‘80s.

Check it out below!

After releasing a self-titled EP last year, Death Bells will be gifting the world with a full album later this year. Look for ‘Standing At The Edge Of The World’ to be released in North America on September 29 via Funeral Party Records (and in Australia by Burning Rose).

the Big Drops Share Another Brand New Music Video

The Big Drops, a NY/NJ-based band with a psychedelic flair, has released a music video for their song “Baskets of Love,” which comes off their just released debut album, Time, Color. I’ve written an article for these guys before, and I was a big fan of their music, so I was excited to see the video for “Baskets of Love,” a song that’s reminiscent of 1960’s rock n’ roll.

The video features the band performing mostly in black and white, intermixed with close-up shots of the guys in vivid, vibrant color. The color contrasts make it really cool, and the way it’s filmed in grainy, vintage quality fits with the aesthetic of the song.

Check it out below!

The video originally premiered with Songwriting Magazine, where The Big Drops admitted that they had a lot of fun filming for “Baskets of Love.” Check it out, and I would definitely recommend listening to the full album of Time, Color. “Baskets of Love” isn’t the only great single on there, and I look forward to seeing some other possible music videos in the future (my personal favorite track is “By The Water,” and I’d love to see a visual companion for that).
In the meantime while you’re waiting for more releases, watch the video for “Baskets of Love,” download the album, and you can certainly expect to see The Big Drops appearing on the road this year! Some tour dates are down below, and be sure to follow The Big Drops on social media for any forthcoming announcements.

In Place Share Their Latest Single "Spiral Daze" With Listeners

Philadelphia's very own instrumental duo, In Place, have recently released their newest single "Spiral Daze" for fans and listeners!

Recorded out of the band’s home studio, the song is the byproduct of a brief moment of life’s pressure pushing down all at once. "The beginning riff symbolizes the intensity while the acoustic at the end is the release of that," says In Place.

Check out the single, "Spiral Daze" below!

In Place is made up of childhood friends Brandon Cassel and Justin Leggio. Focused on electric guitar and drums, they incorporate brass, percussion, and bass elements performed by friends of the two. The sound has been described as moody, filled with peaks and valleys of tension and release, and that instills a sense of nostalgia and reflection in the listener.

If you're digging this and wondering when you can catch In Place live, you can catch them on July 20th at Front Street Cafe performing with QQQ and Shy. There will be artwork by Cody Bluett as well, so you're in for a treat!

Anyone familiar with The Contortionist's latest album, Devin Townsend or even TesseracT will recognize some of Stargazer's influences and is bound to find something to keep them tied in until the album drops.

Matt Copp (vocals), opened up about the track: "Temple of Solace has some of the oldest riffs we've ever written, stretching back to before Stargazer was even a band. Rare Futures Announce West Coast Tour

Rare Futures Live by Nick Karp.jpg

Rare Features, the indie-prog rock band band from New York City, is ending the terrible year that was 2016 on a high note by embarking on a west coast tour with Hearts Like Lions and RUMRS. Founding member and incredible musician, Matt Fazzi has played with the likes of Taking Back Sunday, Into Over It, A Great Big Pile of Leaves, and Deer Hunter (among many others), but wanted to start a project all his own, and thus Rare Features was born.

Formerly known as Happy Body Slow Brain, Rare Features is a perfect combination of groove and progressive rock with some incredible 80’s influences thrown in there for even richer melodies, giving clear nods to bands like Tears for Fears and Sade. They released their emotional debut LP This is Your Brain on Love earlier this year in March and have been non-stop busy ever since. Although their tour only has a few dates left, you better believe that despite 2016 coming to a close, this only marks the beginning for Rare Features.

Watch and listen to the awesome music video for their single “The Pressure” below. If you like what you hear keep an eye out for them in 2017 through all of their social media outlets and of course The Hook will keep you up to date on all of your Rare Features and music news.

The song talks about the relationships that were ruined because of what he was going through and what it was like the moment he stopped taking his medication and how he has been ferociously dealing with the issue.

Mclelland expands of the overarching theme of Drag Me Out"The record is about admitting that you're not okay and trusting someone enough to tell them. We collaborate on all of our songs. Marcus Alan Ward Releases "Devil In Popular Culture"

A new single from multi-instrumentalist artist Marcus Alan Ward has been released! It's called “Devil In Popular Culture,” and it's a flowing, funky soulful alt-rock track that blends a genre mishmash with insightful commentary about our culture-based society.

"I think it taps into an increasing paranoia and cultural unease that's present in 2016," Ward says about the new single. "Sonically, it's a healthy mix of soul, garage rock, electro and beyond. I had a lot of fun with this one."

You can check out “Devil in Popular Culture” right here!

This is Ward's second single this year, coming after the release of “Little Sunshine” back in August.

You can check out the music video for that here!

After releasing his acclaimed album, Last Night I Grew Tentacles, in 2014, Ward decided to forego focusing on album releases and instead concentrate on releasing individual songs to make each new release a unique experience.

Aleko’s Latest Single, “Waiting” is an Emotionally Driven Masterpiece

Americana/Indie singer-songwriter Aleko, aka  Alexandros Doukopoulos, has released his latest single “Waiting” and it is a beautifully crafted song that touches the mind and the soul.

Hailing from Linwood, New Jersey, Aleko’s alternative, folk style music is for any fans of Bon Iver, Hozier, or City & Colour and “Waiting” showcases these influences perfectly. This track follows up his highly successful 2015 EP, Amity, in perfect fashion and effortlessly encapsulates Aleko’s signature voice and smooth instrumentation to make a combination that is sure to make the listener feel something. Partnering up with famed producer, Trevor Leonard, the pair set out to create a track that would not only move listeners but also inspire them to find their own path to true happiness.

"The storytelling stance of these lyrics is that the first half portrays someone who's just been waiting for something to happen, to actually love someone in a way that no-one else has loved them. The second half is referencing someone who's been openly searching, wearing their heart on their sleeve, and loving everyone who gives them the time of day; unfortunately, never having it reciprocated. I like to think there's a connection between these two people, sort of like two halves of a whole."

“Waiting” is about taking a leap of faith and never holding back, something Aleko is all too familiar with. Taking risks and diving into his musical niche at the young age of 8, Aleko’s musical career has been anything but safe. Every endeavor has helped craft his soulful sound to the point where he lets his songs naturally breathe emotion rather than ‘attempting’ to make them, and this could not be any more evident than in “Waiting.”

You can check out waiting below and stay connected with Aleko by heading to his social media pages below!

Makari Release New Single

Tampa based progressive rock group, Makari, recently shared their newest single in the wake of recently announcing their latest signing with Invogue Records and the release of their forthcoming EP, Elegies.

Elegies was recorded and mixed with Paul Hundeby and mastered by Emily Lazar (Sia, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Circa Survive). The 5-track EP is due out November 18th and will feature their newest single, "Blossom."

Check it out below!

The song, written by frontman Spencer Pearson is about how one has to work tirelessly to maintain their relationships, and achieve their dreams. He continues, "It's about how, at times, the things you hope to achieve can seem to be slipping away, or cause you to have mixed feelings. In the end, the song is about continuing to fight for your dreams, and working through all the difficulties that arise on the way, because that is what sets you free, and makes you happy. Blossom is about joining the band at a tumultuous time for everyone; it is about our new beginning and our journey."

Jesse Ruben Shares Politically Charged Single

Philly born, Brooklyn local singer/songwriter Jesse Ruben has taken to the microphone as our country prepares for the proverbial changing of hands in just a matter of weeks!

irst made waves with his inspiration anthem "We Can." A triumphant tuned that was inspired by his initiative, The We Can Project, where he was enabled to travel to schools across America to help children believe they can achieve anything they put their minds to! Now, following the widely successful single, Ruben is back at it again with "Scared of America," a politically-charged tune that focuses on the flaws in the healthcare system, education boundaries, the rape culture on college campuses and institutional racism.

Check it out below!

This fall, Jesse will release his EP A Reply to Violence. The title is inspired by a Leonard Bernstein quote he stumbled upon on the side of a school while walking through the East Village: "This will be our reply to violence, that we make music more intensely, more beautifully, and more devotedly than ever before."

NJ locals, Grey Goes Black, have recently premiered their latest track "Enough to Waste The Day" with Speak Into My Good Eye's 24 Hour Song Challenge!
