A Day Without Love Celebrates New Music Video & Touring

Matthew with The Hook (duh) here again to bring you just what you’ve been missing! Reviews of some of your favorite artists, past present and forever. I’m back today with an all too familiar face! Philadelphia favorite & DIY legend, A Day Without Love.

If you need a refresher, the man behind the guitar is Philly artist Brian Walker. He’s back doing what he does best: making you feel things deep down, sharing wisdom, and making real good sounds. This time in music video form! That’s right, this music video celebrates the recently concluded “The Rise Above Tour” which spanned 10 different cities in just 9 days! A Day Without Love spent time in each respective city, visiting friends, making new friends and eating really good food. Now, if you think that’s impressive just wait until we get into the song and video aptly titled: “Good Friends Are Hard to Find.”

Check out the music video down below!

As someone who knows a thing or two about long-distance relationships and the connections we make along the way in this journey of living, I’m really into this music video! Factoring in the stupendous guitar playing and great editing, this video is everything you could want and more! Heartfelt and touching songwriting? Check! A gorgeous guitar patterning, harmonized with just the right touch of back-up vocals? Double check! I don’t want to give away too much of the magic here, because this is a moment you need to have fresh in your mind (by clicking on the above video streaming). If this doesn’t leave you appreciating everyone that has ever left an imprint on your heart, then I recommend listening harder because you’re missing it.

What A Day Without Love and Brian are promoting is a message we here at The Hook find very important and sadly remains often unrecognized. Don’t think for one second that we won’t continue to support A Day Without Love, good vibes, making new friends, and (per usual) enjoying really good music.

Moving forward, we can’t wait to see what’s next on the horizon for one of our favorite musicians!

Music Video Follows For Port Lucian Fans

unnamed.jpg

Back in November we covered Port Lucian’s first single, “Lucid Dreaming II,” a dreamy, love song for those romantic at heart. The recent Philadelphia transplant is making sure to pick up the pace as they debut the accompanying music video for “Lucid Dreaming II.”

The music video is just as soft as the track itself. A collection of retro images and graphics that stand idly by, being experienced. Enjoy it for yourself down below, debuting today!

The track: a layered collective of vocals & instrumentals lends itself perfectly to layered, tapered images of calm, and longing. Port Lucian has already proven the gravity of their emotions, as well as ours - and we’re ready for more. What’s to expect in the New Year for this newfound favorite!

ASL Music Video Is Latest From With Confidence

Bands continue to take in the important of inclusivity as they move forward, and With Confidence has always been one step ahead.

"Moving Boxes," the third single from their recent album Love and Loathing, the band's second full length, out on Hopeless Records, was their pet project for this American Sign Language Friendly music video. The band worked with an ASL interpreter to create a really special video for fans to experience the song in a different, more inclusive way.

Check it out below!

A few months ago, With Confidence shared the original music video for "Moving Boxes,"and in June released "That Something".

"Moving Boxes" was written by guitarist Inigo Del Carmen, who said, "I think it's important for media/art to be accessible to everyone. Our goal is to create music for everyone to enjoy and lyrics that everyone has the opportunity to relate to. By doing a video in ASL, we can further immerse our fans who are hearing impaired and create an even bigger platform for some of the topics, such as mental health, that our music touches on. My best friend is hearing impaired and this is something we've talked about doing for awhile and now we've actually done it! Big thanks to Raquel for being an amazing teacher and helping us learn some ASL!”

FYKE Shares New Music Video

FYKE have been making huge gains as one of Universal Music Groups International Acts - and recently are celebrating the release of their music video for the single, “Till The End.” The track, much like others from FYKE, radiate a message highlighting social issues & positivity.

Comprised of Enik Lin, Steven Delman, Justin Wright, Mikee Fabella, and Gerard Christian, the band released their debut single "Favorite Mistake" in early 2017. Front man, Enik Lin, has produced/recorded and mixed all of the bands music with the support of Gene Gimaldi at Oasis Mastering.

Check out the music video for “Till The End” below!

Enik elaborates on the song, "'Till The End" is a song about dealing with anxiety and panic attacks. Anxiety disorders are estimated to affect 30 percent of adults (age 18-54) in America alone. almost half of that percentage is unreported due to misdiagnosis, people that choose not to seek help, and people that don't even know that they are currently suffering from an anxiety disorder. We wanted to write a song that brought attention to the symptoms of living with anxiety and the constant feeling of wanting to find a way to escape its grasp.”

Check it out below

The video premiered with One’s To Watch who hailed it saying, “Violet Sands perfectly encapsulates the magic of driving with no sense of direction or destination.” The song ‘Drive’ was started while Derek was still living in California, and it kept a lot of its warm, desert-highway vibe as it traveled to Brooklyn.
