the Big Drops Share Another Brand New Music Video

The Big Drops, a NY/NJ-based band with a psychedelic flair, has released a music video for their song “Baskets of Love,” which comes off their just released debut album, Time, Color. I’ve written an article for these guys before, and I was a big fan of their music, so I was excited to see the video for “Baskets of Love,” a song that’s reminiscent of 1960’s rock n’ roll.

The video features the band performing mostly in black and white, intermixed with close-up shots of the guys in vivid, vibrant color. The color contrasts make it really cool, and the way it’s filmed in grainy, vintage quality fits with the aesthetic of the song.

Check it out below!

The video originally premiered with Songwriting Magazine, where The Big Drops admitted that they had a lot of fun filming for “Baskets of Love.” Check it out, and I would definitely recommend listening to the full album of Time, Color. “Baskets of Love” isn’t the only great single on there, and I look forward to seeing some other possible music videos in the future (my personal favorite track is “By The Water,” and I’d love to see a visual companion for that).

In the meantime while you’re waiting for more releases, watch the video for “Baskets of Love,” download the album, and you can certainly expect to see The Big Drops appearing on the road this year! Some tour dates are down below, and be sure to follow The Big Drops on social media for any forthcoming announcements.

'Speak Soft' Video Release From Post Modern

Ohio ambient rock band Post Modern has just released their new single and music video, “Speak Soft.” The song will remind you of bands like Brand New (one of my favorites when I’m in the right mood) and Circa Survive, and it’s about dealing with a loss of faith and the internal struggles that can arise from trying to redeem yourself.

Formed in 2015, Post Modern is composed of lead singer and guitarist Matty McClelland, drummer and vocalist Nick Scarberry, guitarist Aaron Wicklow and bassist Aaron Nichols. Post Modern is known for their atmospheric instrumentals and haunting vocals, and they don’t disappoint with “Speak Soft.”

Turn it up, and it’ll take you to a different place. I tend to daydream when I listen to really good songs, and this one was powerful enough to inspire some pretty intense images in my head.

Check out the video below!

Matty McClelland had this to say about the track: “I wrote this song describing my relationship with God, and trying to regain the communication and connection that has seemed to erode over the years. However, it can describe a loss and desire to reconnect with anyone, like a friend, lover, or parent. ‘Speak Soft’ is a personal song for me specifically, but I wanted almost anyone to be able to relate to it and the struggle it describes.”

Whether you relate to it or not, it’s worth listening to. Post Modern recently finished up a tour with Dreamcatcher, and they have plans to get on the road again soon, as well as release a lot more new material in 2017.

Check out the music video for “Speak Soft” above (you can also get the song through iTunes and Spotify), and connect with Post Modern on their social media below!

Famous Last Words Share New Lyric Video

Famous Last Words recently released a lyric video for their new single “The Judged.” The single is off of their sophomore record, The Incubus, which is due out on September 30th!

Not to mention, last month they released another single for that album entitled “Pretty in Porcelain.” This record deals with a difficult subject matter according to Vocalist JT Tollas, “All of our full length albums have told stories that tackle extremely difficult situations. The Incubus tackles the issue of sexual and domestic abuse. I felt it was important to step forward really bring this relentless issue to light”

Check out the video below!

In the video, the band introduces us to the main character of their story, Christine. Christine is a stay-at-home “Susie Homemaker” of the 1950’s She is trying to determine why she is having constant blackouts and horrible nightmares. This all happening while trying to still care for her family. According to the group, Christine represents anyone who has ever been abused and the story depicts problems we still have in our society today.

This is a very interesting topic with two powerful singles that pick apart their subject matter and really dive into it. This is a problem we deal with in our society and Famous Last Words has taken the torch on the issue. Music and change can come hand in hand, just ask Joan Baez. Please check out this single and even give the whole record a listen. I’m sure you will walk away a better person.

Vilamoura Share "We All Die" Music Video

You know what they say: everything is bigger in Texas, and metal music is no exception.

Lately, the Lone Star state has been a hotbed for some of the heaviest-hitting new music invading the metalcore and deathcore scenes, and Pflugerville outfit Vilamoura is a perfect example of this trend.

Featuring Joshua Huber on rough vocals, Jonathan Sotomayor singing cleans, Tony Lerma and Mikah Shipman on guitar, Joshua Valdez on bass, and Jonathon Lester on drums, Vilamoura plays a crunchy combination of hard-hitting metalcore and modern pop sensibilities in the spirit of A Day To Remember, Secrets, and The Amity Affliction. The band recently released a music video for their song “We All Die”, off their EP Buried Alive which came out in September last year.

Check it out below:

In true Texas fashion, “We All Die” kicks things off with a furious build-up that is then released in a barrage of thick, chugging riffs and pulverizing drums, topped off by Joshua Huber’s skillfully terrorizing vocal delivery. Not a band to cop to one-trick-ponyness, Vilamoura delivers equally impressive choruses, where the song rises into an uplifting polyphony of euphoric solo guitar over headbang-worthy rhythm, and Jonathan Sotomayor’s layered cleans ring out urgently to remind listeners that you’ll lose your mind if you don’t learn from your mistakes and face reality.

Vilamoura has been a band for little more than a year now, having formed in April 2015. With nothing but a surprisingly well-produced debut EP (mixed and mastered by Robby Joyner) under their belt music-wise, the band has played many shows in the Texas area and now has two high-quality music videos. Their first one, which came out for their song “Vindictive” in March of this year, can be viewed right here. The video was put out by Collapse Entertainment.

You can follow this band now on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to keep up with the latest news. Stay tuned!

Bür Gür Share New Music Video

Bür Gür, Los Angeles tropical noise/pop duo, just released a new music video!

The two-some consists of Makan Negahban and Corbin Clarke, and the guys just released their sophomore album, Have You Lost Your Faith In God? on April 1, 2016 through New Los Angeles, an Alpha Pup Records.

Written and produced by Clarke and Negahban, the album supports a fun, upbeat sound built on a foundation of poly rhythms, dreamy vocals, and intricate acoustic guitar lines. The music is matched with darker, contemplative lyrical content, a stark contrast to their bright, tropical sound.

The music video flows through a stream of psychedelic and glitchy visuals, jumping from a variety of clips and shots from the band, to turbulent colors. Tune Collective writes, "The mind bending imagery alongside honeyed, dulcet tones brings a peace and calm that translates to a cross-cultural sound with mass appeal."

You can check out "Shek," below!

In recent weeks, Bür Gür has played Los Angeles’ staple underground show Low End Theory, opened for an Animal Collective DJ set, showcased at SXSW, and premiered music videos on The Mat Mag and IHEARTCOMIX. On May 10th, Bür Gür is performing live at Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles alongside DJ sets by Kenny Segal (Team Supreme), Raskal (Noise Revolt), and Nina Tarr.

Have You Lost Your Faith In God? is available via Apple Music and Spotify and for download upon request.

Borderlands Announce Debut LP & Music Video

Straight from Lisbon, Portugal, progressive metalcore masterminds Borderlands unveil a brand-spanking-new music video for the song “Children of the Sun”. This is the third song to be premiered off Voice of the Voiceless, their upcoming debut full length, which is set for release on June 10th. Check out the insane video below.

The band- which consists of Rui Martins on vocals, Yuri José and Hugo Capelo on guitar, Cristóvão "Kiki" Monteiro on the drums, and Gonçalo Beco on bass- leaves listeners with extremely high expectations for the upcoming release. With the single, the quintet displays an ability to compose complex music that weaves gripping melodies into a tightly structured, pummeling assault. The song features a willingness to go wild tempo-wise while still sounding extremely on-beat, a la Massachusetts technical deathcore giants Within The Ruins, though they ultimately exhibit a feel that is very akin to the likes of metalcore compatriots Northlane, Erra, and even Oceans Ate Alaska.

Voice Of The Voiceless Track List:
1.    Continuum
2.    Children Of The Storm (feat. Nelson Robello from The Voynich Code)
3.    Release Yourself
4.    Lineage
5.    Limitless
6.    Essencia
7.    Voice Of The Voiceless
8.    The Curse (feat. Anger from Above The Hate)
9.    Children Of The Sun

With only a few singles and a three-and-a-half-year-old EP to their name, Borderlands is too good of a band not to expand its reach beyond Europe with this new album. Voice of the Voiceless sounds more polished and professional than their last efforts thanks to the mixing and mastering done by Nicolas Delestrade, who has worked with Betraying The Martyrs and Novelists in the past.

Says vocalist Rui Martins of the new album: “This album is definitely stepping up our game, we’ve put a lot of effort into this and hope that everyone enjoys it and loves it as much as we do.”

Borderlands are working hard and are well on their way to achieving greatness because of it.

With a set album release date on the horizon, now is the time to follow their social media and stay up-to-date with the latest happenings of this band. You can pre-order the new album, as well as download their old music, right here. Stay tuned!

Semiotics Release Music Video

Local New Jersey grown band, Semiotics, just released a brand new music video this week for their track, "Cheers Me Proper."

"Cheers Me Proper" comes straight off of their most recent EP, For How, which released in October 2015. The music video is a beautiful non-romantic (and awkward, and goofy) ode to playing basement shows - the guy on the phone, beer as donations, and a whole lot of tomatoes - and you should definitely check it out below!

While you're at it, just check out For How because that's also some super stellar alt-rock/emo music you can vibe to. Semiotics is also gearing up to go and play some shows with Brackish - check out those dates below (on the coolest poster I've ever seen).

For more info on Semiotics you can check back here where we'll be checking out their newest EP, and learning more about Semiotics - or you can just go straight to the source and check out their social media!

Whosah Premier Music Video

unnamed (2).jpg

Indiana grown indie-pop group, Whosah just recently dropped their sophomore EP, Work, last month! The EP was met with rave reviews, and in support of Work, Whosah release a brand new music video last week for their leading track, "Ghost Towns."

The video contrasts between frontman Spencer Grimes vocals on the track's upbeat, danceable tune compared to a picture of a desolate, isolated world amidst familiar settings. Whosah had this to say about the concept behind the video: "We wanted to capture the live, high energy feel of our performance but in a introspective, contained way. We really wanted the video to feel like a journey, an adventure in another world in which we're traveling --longing to find life but only finding empty spaces. For this video we wanted to contrast the literal nature of our moving picture for the rest of the record. The imagery in this song plays between an office space and an old ghost town, so we wanted the video to leave a little more space for the viewers to have their own creativity and connect with their own reality."
