Beshiba Anticipates New Album With New Single

Photography: Jacob Williamson

Photography: Jacob Williamson

South Carolina's very own, Beshiba, is celebrating the upcoming release of their sophomore EP, Worthless, by sharing the second single off of the November 4th release! The song, "F.E.L" features a guest spot from Garett Hood, the vocalist/drummer of Guerrilla Warfare.

Check out the track below streaming for free on Bandcamp!

According to Beshiba, "The basis of the song came from the chant, which is rooted from the perspective of being an outcast from society and refusing to conform to the standards of every day life to which the mainstream imposes on you. It's about being a dreamer and looking beyond every day life and those precedents & values which are forced on you, and using your anger as a driving force to push through all that to achieve & get what you want out of life. On the other hand, the other parts of the song reference suburban kids who had everything handed to them on a golden plate who never really experienced hardship or poor upbringing, but try to pretend like they know what struggle is."

esides the anticipation of Worthless, Beshiba also recently announced a November tour, we've provided dates below! In the meantime, the single is available for free download on our Bandcamp as well as on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, & Google Play!

Counterfeit Culture Release "Apothecary" Music Video

Post-hardcore group Counterfeit Culture recently released a music video featuring Ricky Armellino of This Or The Apocalypse, for their single, "Apothecary."

The video showcases a violent relationship which highlights the message of the band's recently released EP titled, DeathwishDeathwish dropped August 1st and was produced/engineered by Armellino and gives off the melodic metal vibes and harmonious vocals that will remind listeners of This Or The Apocalypse.

Watch the new music video for "Apothecary" below and stream the rest of Deathwish HERE.

Guitarist, Patrick Robertson talked about the video saying, "This music video is the most meaningful thing of the whole release for all of us. We spent so much time planning out the storyboard, and drove all the way to Lancaster, PA to film part of it. Of course having our good friend Ricky Armellino in it makes it that much more special to all of us. We wanted to follow up on our music video for X, and put out something that's just as impactful. Alec and Kiera, the actor and actress in this video did an absolutely amazing job portraying an abusive relationship. This is a culmination of all our hard work, and we hope everyone can get something out of it!"

Hardcore Outfit Turncoat Release "American Dream" Music Video

Detroit hardcore group Turncoat released a new music video this month for their most recent single "American Dream." Filmed in the manner of a 90’s era home video, the video features a compilation of footage of the band's hometown. The track comes from their 2016 Self-Titled EP (Eulogy Recordings).

Check it out below!

Guitarist, Keith Keister says of the track, “”American Dream” is groovy, fast paced, straight forward example of exactly what we're trying to convey as a band. Off our Eulogy Records debut EP, it's definitely one of my favorites live and on the recording. This video gives a simple 90s-ish home video vibe and show cases some of the places we drive by, live near or see in our everyday life in Michigan and shows us in a very raw and back to basics perspective."

Since their debut in 2014, Turncoat has been touring heavily around the US. Catch them on the road May 11th through the 21st as they prepare to release their upcoming self titled EP (Tour dates listed below), and check out their brand new music video for “American Dream.”

Stay Inside Release 'Radio Silence'

Brooklyn-based post-hardcore band, Stay Inside, has released their single “Radio Silence” in anticipation of the April 21st release of their debut EP, As You Were.

Check out their demo to get a taste of Stay Inside below!

Vocalist/guitarst Bartees Cox, Jr. says of the new single, "Thematically, 'Radio Silence' is a song about how people in relationships change over time and the choices people have to make to get through those situations. By the end of the song, we get to a point where we’re just happy to be drinking and partying instead of worrying about the next hard decisions and changes that are to come."

Each drawing from their experience living in vastly different parts of the country from the others, the four aim to take a stance in their new music on behalf of the marginalized, the depressed and anyone looking to challenge the rituals of conformity.

Cox describes the purpose of their music, “…“To show folks all over that whether it’s about significant others, family, cops, misogyny, racism, or anything else, they have four friends in Brooklyn yelling and screaming for them.” Stay Inside being a diverse group themselves, he also notes, “I grew up listening to so many hardcore and emo bands wondering why they didn’t have more black kids in them,” and “…the amount of women in emo/post-hardcore was disappointing.”

Keep a watchful eye for the release of As You Were on April 21 (self release). In the meantime, catch Stay Inside at a show and check out their social media below!

Stay Inside tour dates:
4/14 - The Fat House - Philadelphia, PA
4/20 - The Gateway - Brooklyn, NY

Vanish Sign To Outerloop Records

Post-hardcore quintet VANISH, a rock group from New Jersey (the state I grew up in, which means I automatically have a soft spot for these guys), has officially signed with Outerloop Records. Outerloop has signed artists like Lorna Shore, Youth in Revolt, and A Wake in Providence, and now they’ve added VANISH to their list.

VANISH is a band that combines pop and hardcore rock into songs that will remind listeners of artists like Pierce the Veil and, ever the iconic punk band, My Chemical Romance. (“Welcome to the Black Parade,” anyone?) To get an idea of what VANISH has to offer, fans can listen to their new single, “DEAD,” which VANISH has partnered exclusively with New Noise Magazine to release. The song and music video combination showcases the band’s personality, and the song itself is about being betrayed by someone you love.

Check it out below!

Influenced by other bands like Mariana’s Trench and Sleeping With Sirens, VANISH still brings their own unique style and expression to their sound, topping off their music with emotional lyrics and energetic live performances. The video for “DEAD” gives viewers a chance to see what a live show from VANISH would be like, while evoking the strong emotions that the lyrics of the song bring up.

Keep up with VANISH on social media for more new releases and announcements from the band.

The Funeral Portrait Announce Tour & Album

Atlanta’s Theatricore band, The Funeral Portrait, announced the arrival of their brand new album, A Moment of Silence, due out December 16th, 2016. The band consists of vocalist Lee Jennings, guitarist/vocalist Juergie Sandstorm, guitarist AJ Pekarek, bassist Chris King, and drummer Stephen Danzey. A Moment of Silence balances a combination of rock and roll, heavy metal, and theatricore, producing crafted tunes of love, loss, anger, and grief.

The band's lead vocalist describes the process behind the album: "We went into recording A Moment Of Silence trying to display a more dangerous and honest side of The Funeral Portrait. Everything on this record is real and played from the heart." Lead guitarist Juergie echoes: "A Moment of Silence is a story that explores one man's journey through the afterlife. In this universe there is eternity after death, but there is no god and there is no heaven. This man has been told his entire life that when he died, God would greet him at the gates of heaven. Now he must drift and observe, waiting for the truth to reveal itself."

The World Over Release Lyric Video for "Mountains"

LA-based alternative rock band, The World Over, released a new lyric video for their song “Mountains,” off of their new EP, also called Mountains.

“People who are stuck dealing with depression, anxiety, self-confidence issues, etc. could all use a friend or loved one to rely on to get them through their struggle.,” Ball said about the new song. “As a person who has struggled with the same problems striving to have a healthy life, I want to help my friends or family dealing with similar issues. But to what extent? At the expense of my morals, time, and energy? People are worth saving but there has to be a limit. You have to know the difference between someone sincerely wanting help and someone trying to bring you down with them. This song ("Mountains") is what I had to learn the hard way.”

Watch the lyric video right here!!

The World Over is lead by frontwoman Tiaday Ball, grandaughter of Ernie Ball, the creator of Music Man Guitars and Slinky Strings. The band came together in 2013 with founding members, Ball, Xavier Xavier Moreux, Ryan Knecht, Anthony Dellaripa, and Eric Gledhill joining forces to make a band that spread empowering and hopeful messages with their music. They released an EP in 2014, Rampart Disctrict, with Escape The Fate's Omar Espinosa on guitar. The bassist, Donovan Allen, joined in 2015.

The Danger Of Falling Share Video

The Danger of Falling is proud to announce the release of their first single “Myself/Alone."

Hailing for Morgantown, West Virginia, this Christian five-piece brings a positive message with a killer instrumental spine. The single is off of their debut EP, Hope/Well, which is due out August 5th.

This track is a fresh blend of clean/dirty vocals where the listener cannot predict the pattern. It's unlike the traditional dirty vocals verse/clean vocals chorus we're used to in metal/hardcore music, something different that I personally wished more bands would try. The rhythmic legs on this song keep the track going as if they're doing hardcore leg day workouts. The group hopes that with this powerful single they gain a larger following than their live shows have given them.

Starting in 2014 with their first demo, The Danger Of Falling began to build their own sound through lives shows. This gained the attention of Imminence Records and they were soon signed to the label. They signed on in January of this year, and are soon releasing what is anticipated to be a great EP.

It is always so exciting to watch a group like this grow and become a real powerhouse that cannot be messed with. They have their talent and music on their side and that's all they need.

Pyro, Ohio Release Music Video

Pyro, Ohio hails from Virginia (despite their name) and the band released a kick-ass music video back in April for their track, "The Truest Reflection."

After a successful trek through the midwest on tour with The Apprehended, the guys in Pyro, Ohio were stoked on their new music video off the Andreas Magnusson (Haste The Day, Oh Sleeper, The Black Dahlia Murder) produced Keepsakes that was released back in November.

“The Truest Reflection” is the band’s third single off the critically acclaimed album and the music video is in dedication to the members' parents.

You can check it out below!

Guitarist Stephen Noel had this to say, "To go along with the theme of our latest release, we really wanted this music video to feature a lot of nostalgic imagery – and for us, that came in the form of old toys and VHS tapes, band posters, and fake wood paneling. The storyline of the video echoes Peter’s lyrics for the song; in which he contemplates how important his parents have been in shaping his life, and thanking them for loving him unconditionally."

No Jogging For Today Releases New Single

Let’s be honest... you probably haven’t heard of French alternative hardcore band No Jogging For Today before. Well I’m here to tell you that this is a damn shame, because I hadn’t either until I was jolted, defibrillator-style, to life by their lead single “Sick”.

What can one draw from their sound, exactly? Sure, it isn’t your run-of-the-mill brand of aggression, that which simply seeks to pummel its listeners in an ocean of sound akin to being in the center of a crowded push pit in a small space. Rather, it feeds off a rawness similar to KEN mode or Every Time I Die, one which feels at once more light-hearted and more self-aware than the average hardcore band but... still manages to kick in your teeth when all is said and done.

“Sick” has been released ahead of the band’s upcoming La Flemme EP, and as the opening track, it introduces listeners to a leaner, meaner No Jogging For Today than what could be heard off debut EP Chef De Vigne, which came out in February. It can be purchased via iTunes. It's pacing is pulverizing, and though it feels more cohesive than most hardcore, it still preserves the unbridled fury and foot-stomping intensity which courses through every vein, every single capillary, of NJFT’s music. Take a look for yourself below:

The band, which consists of the colorfully named Lio on vocals, Alx Bizar and J.phi on guitar, Claudius on bass, and Flo on drums, is gearing up to release their EP in excitement. Says guitarist Bizar of La Flemme and “Sick”:

We recorded the EP at this studio near Nantes with Damien Bolo and we feel this new single sets off this crazy energy and sound that is as powerful as if you were in rehearsal with us. This is a perfect representation of our forthcoming EP that is releasing later this month.

La Flemme Track List:

1. Sick
2. Body
3. Evil
4. Sodom
5. Michel

Make sure to give big ups to French badasses! They drench every inch of their music with passion, and who knows? At this rate, they could end up anywhere in a year’s time. Therefore, don’t slack! Follow them on their Facebook, and keep up with the latest NJFT news. As always, stay tuned for more French fist-pumping ferocity!

Cloak and Dagger Unveil Heavy New Single

Last week, Aussie metalcore outfit Cloak & Dagger released “Ruin”, their latest single from their soon-to-be-released Balance EP. “Ruin” is scratching, dissonant metallic punishment. Check it out below.

The first song to be released from this EP is the title track, which came out around two months ago. Already, “Balance” and “Ruin” exhibit a production quality far superior to their Divination EP, which came out almost/over two years ago on June 17, 2014. This can be viewed and purchased at their Bandcamp. A video for “Balance” is viewable below.

The one quality they’ve consistently had is that they’ve aimed to add a pinch of brooding heaviness to a satisfyingly technical metalcore recipe. This band, which consists of Jordan Phoebe on vocals, Oli Royer and Will Potter on guitar and clean vocals, Alex Dragicevich on bass, and Nathaniel Jackson on drums, set out to prove themselves a few years back and are now taking the scene by storm.

Australians have a knack for creating diverse, interesting metal acts such as Hands Like Houses, Thy Art Is Murder, and Parkway Drive, amongst others. Cloak & Dagger manages to make itself stand out enough from the pack to be worth following.

Though the band has not yet announced a release date for their next EP, those of you who are interested can follow them on social media and keep your eyes peeled for when this project inevitably drops without warning! As always, stay tuned for more metalcore awesomeness!

SUMAC Announce West Coast Tour

In anticipation for their upcoming album, What One Becomes, sludge-kicking West Coast trio SUMAC are embarking on a tour along the US West Coast!

Check out the dates, as well as the tour announcement video, below.

Sumac Tour Dates:
May 20 - Bellingham, WA - The Shakedown
May 21 - Seattle, WA - Black Lodge

May 26 - Chico, CA - Cafe Coda Chico
May 27 - San Francisco, CA - Hemlock Tavern

May 30 - Phoenix, AZ - Valley Bar
May 31 - Albuquerque, NM - Sister
Jun 1 - El Paso, TX - Bowie Feathers
Jun 3 - Austin, TX - The Sidewinder
Jun 4 - Dallas, TX - Club Dada

SUMAC was formed in 2014 by Aaron Turner (Isis, Mammifer, Old Man Gloom), Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists), and Brian Cook (Botch, Russian Circles, These Arms Are Snakes). This talented three-piece released their debut album The Deal back in 2015, establishing their meticulously crafted formula that would bring each of the members’ playing abilities together to explore the utter extremes of both seedy, claustrophobic heaviness and ambient serenity.

The band delves further into these murky depths on What One Becomes, structuring songs in a way that displays the inner and outer struggles of living with anxiety. As Turner puts it, “Much of it has to do with questioning fabricated structures of identity and what it means when those structures are destabilized by contact with the outside. That has been a unnerving process to undergo, but also fruitful in terms of discovering the path to individuation and realized connection with the self. Another facet of experience I’m working to convey is about living with the sustained presence of anxiety, and avoiding reliance on musical devices of cathartic release to provide escape from this condition.”

What One Becomes will be released on June 10th through Thrill Jockey Records. It was recorded with none other than the great Kurt Ballou of Converge, who manages to wring every last drop of intensity from each of the songs on the album. It is available now for pre-order through their website.

Be sure to keep up with the band’s latest happenings on Facebook and Twitter, and don’t miss them if they’re coming through your area. The band puts on a show that is one of a kind. Stay tuned!

Death Koolaid Releases New Music Video

London, UK hardcore punk-rockers, Death Koolaid ,have released a crazy new music video for their song “Emmeline."

From their upcoming album, Death Koolaid Vol. 2, which hits stores in July, the song is gratingly groovy and refreshingly weird. The trippy video was directed by Brendan Cleaves, filmed by Laura Bellingham, edited by Greg Hays, and colored by Oliver Gill.

Watch the band tear it up below!

The band says this of the video: “We wanted to do a performance video but hate performance videos. We wanted to stay away from that classic good looking, fancy lighting, slick style performance video we so often see too much of. So we came up with this idea. We wanted it to create motion sickness, headaches, and dizziness. We also did it on a tiny budget, with just the director, the DP and us all crammed into a tiny room. Not only that, we thought to make it more intense for us, we put a time limit on the shoots duration to three hours. Get in, go mental and get out. Pretty much our mentality squeezed into the whole experience and visuals. We use a homemade camera rig for many of shots as nothing out there could achieve the look we wanted. The song is also bonkers, so it all came together quite well.”

The entirety of their first EP, Death Koolaid Vol. 1, is currently available for free download until the release of the new one! You can grab the EP here. Released in 2014, the EP met success and features their song “The Second Rule”, whose music video won a UK MVA in October of that year.

The band, which consists of vocalist Siren Psycho, guitarist/bassist Roy Darkwater, “The Crowman” on guitar, and “The Crossman” on drums, formed in 2013 to play their brand of Rob Zombie-esque heaviness. They’ve been touring all over the UK since the release of their EP, and they were even the first punk band to grace the stage of a Brighton and Hove Pride festival. They even won a UK Emergenza Battle of the Bands in 2015 and took the title of Best New Band at the Pure Rawk awards. They’ve been owning the scene since their inception, with no plans to stop any time soon.

Follow these oddballs on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and at their very own website to keep up with all their glitzy, ghoulish greatness, and be sure to check out their Soundcloud and YouTube to hear more monstrous mayhem.
