MKNLY's "When I'm Lonely" For When You're Lonely

North Carolina 4-piece are celebrating their most recent release, “When I’m Lonely,” this week!

”When I'm Lonely" is the first look into their upcoming EP, due out later this year. After spending a year preparing for their upcoming release, MKNLY aims to showcase a more vulnerable side to their sound.

Check out the single below!

About the single, the band states, "“When I'm Lonely” is the title track for our upcoming EP release. This song truly encompasses the emotions of the one night stand mentality. Scared to be alone but yet at the same time completely scared to love or be with someone."

With plans to release an EP in the winter, “When I’m Lonely” is setting the stage for something great. For fans of that bridge between emo, pop, and alternative, MKNLY is going to be the band you’re looking out for. We’ve got their social media links down below, so check it out!

New Release From Neck Deep

Neck Deep has released the third track and music video for "Motion Sickness," the lead track on their upcoming album, The Peace and The Panic, due out August 18th via Hopeless Records.

On the track, singer Ben Barlow shares, "Motion Sickness is the song that really bridges the vibe and lyrical message of Life's Not Out To Get You to the new album. It's the song on 'The Peace & The Panic' that shares the most in common with what we've done before, whilst still fitting with the rest of the new material. Like a lot of the new record, it carries a theme of duality; the verses are about confusion and struggle, but the choruses are about not giving up, not letting hard times get the best of you."

Check out the track below!

The video gives you a "day in the life" vibe from Neck Deep as the band spends time on Venice Beach skateboarding, visiting Disneyland and live footage from their recent performances headlining Slam Dunk in the UK. Barlow continues saying "We shot the video with our friend and close collaborator Elliott Ingham whilst we were in LA recording the album. The song is so upbeat and energetic that we didn't want the video to be too serious, so we just hung out on our days off from the studio and stitched all the footage together. There are some cool shots from the studio and from our headline sets at Slam Dunk in there too... The video just matches the songs mood of seizing life and grabbing opportunities that are in front of you."

The upcoming 11-track album, produced by Mike Green (Pierce The Veil, Paramore), is a meditation on the constant duality of life and the struggles that come with it!

Julian Fulton's New Single "Rosie's Disposition" Out Now

Songwriter Julian Fulton recently shared his new single, “Rosie’s Disposition,” off his upcoming EP, Battered Receptions. Fulton says the song is about “feeling caged, trying to convince yourself you’re happy, until finally running off in pursuit of something substantially more fulfilling.” The description certainly fits with the song, which includes some train sounds and is reminiscent of running away to find better days.

“Rosie’s Disposition” has some beautiful harmonies in the back half and a melodious guitar riff that I’m obsessed with, and it definitely makes me excited for the full release of Battered Receptions.

Battered Receptions will be Fulton’s third self-released EP, slated for release on May 12th, and the proceeds from the pre-order of the album will go towards the ACLU! Julian Fulton performs solo or with his band, The Zombie Gospel, and Battered Receptions is another of his solo explorations as his fellow band members go off to pursue school or job opportunities.

If the rest of the songs on the EP are anything like “Rosie’s Disposition,” it promises to be a successful release.

Fulton first performed at age 17, and since then, he has been making strides in the music world. Whether he’s solo or working with The Zombie Gospel, he delivers genre-bending music that pulls you in and makes you want more. I’ll be marking my calendar for the release of Battered Receptions, and I’m probably going to listen to “Rosie’s Disposition” ten more times before the EP comes out.

Catch Julian Fulton live at a couple of his upcoming shows below! (Also don’t forget to pre-order the EP so you can support the ACLU!) Do yourself a favor and listen to “Rosie’s Disposition,” and then get inspired by it and hop on a train to a random place. And then listen to the song again while you’re on the train. It’s that kind of track.

Tour dates:
5/20 – John & Peter’s – New Hope, PA

Secret Space Cover Weezer

Everyone loves a good cover, and Secret Space have made it clear that they love covers, too! In anticipation for their upcoming album, The Window Room Pt. 2; Lost In A Dream, the band has released a cover track of Weezer's "Butterfly."

Check out the youtube video of the stripped song below!

he track "Butterfly" (originally premiering with Chorus.fm) is an acoustic version of Weezer's Pinkerton cut and was surprisingly recorded years before Secret Space formed.

"Our recording of this song actually slightly predates Secret Space," says guitarist/vocalist Dean Tartaglia. "Steve (drummer) and I recorded this in spring of 2014, before Secret Space was even an idea. Steve produces bands for a living, and I was just a guinea pig testing out some new equipment/recording techniques to make his acoustic recordings sound more up-close/intimate. We chose Butterfly because we both love Pinkerton and 'Butterfly' is the most personal moment on that record. Flash forward almost 3 years later, we never had any intention of putting this song out, but when we came up with the idea for an acoustic record, we rediscovered our version of Butterfly and realized that it was exactly how our record needed to sound. Instead of trying to re-record it, we decided to stick with the version we had and put it on the record as is. It's kind of amazing to listen back to it now; it's technically the very first Secret Space recording, and because of that it will always feel pure to me."

The original version of The Window Room was released last June on Equal Vision Records and was produced by Will Yip (Circa Survive, Citizen, Turnover). This time around, the band kept it in-house, having drummer Steve Warstler produce the record in his new studio "The Master Bedroom," focusing on one production style and one vibe. Tartaglia and company will play a few select dates in NY with Envy on the Coast before Tartaglia branches out on an 11-date solo run in support of the new record.

The Window Room Part 2 is available March 17th Bandcamp!

Have Mercy Announce New Album 'Make The Best Of It'

The highly anticipated third studio album from Maryland's Have Mercy was just recently announced! Make The Best Of It, will be released on April 21st, 2017 via Hopeless Records.

The 11 track record hits all the marks that Have Mercy fans have been known to love, but this album pushes the band further. Musically, lyrically and stylistically, Make The Best Of It rings loud and true throughout, being the bands catchiest and tightest endeavor to date!

The music video for their first single off of the album, "Coexist," came out on February 28th, directed by Erik Rojas (Yellowcard, Somos) the video has frontman Brian Swindle fighting himself to save his own life only to find out in the end none of it matters, and you can check it out below!

During the writing and recording of Make The Best Of It-a seven-month affair with producers Paul Leavitt (All Time Low) and Brian McTernan (Thrice) as well as writing partner and guitarist Nathaniel Gleason - Swindle made sure to internalize the essence of Have Mercy and let that guide the songwriting. The period surrounding the album was one filled with profound change, both personal and professional. The entire band around Swindle altered, with the frontman now the only original member of Have Mercy. One thing that's not uncertain is that Make The Best Of It, with all its confidence and cohesion, hasn't changed who Swindle is at all. "Everyone who worked on the album poured every ounce of themselves into this," Swindle says. "Even if nobody likes this record, we don't give a shit."

Have Mercy will be hitting the road in support of Real Friends with Tiny Moving Parts, Broadside and Nothing, Nowhere this spring. The first show is set to kick off on April 27th in Grand Rapids, MI and will wrap up on June 9th in Chicago, IL.

Check out the tour dates below!

Semiotics Release Music Video

Photography: Jason Paul Renna

Photography: Jason Paul Renna

Local New Jersey grown band, Semiotics, just released a brand new music video this week for their track, "Cheers Me Proper."

"Cheers Me Proper" comes straight off of their most recent EP, For How, which released in October 2015. The music video is a beautiful non-romantic (and awkward, and goofy) ode to playing basement shows - the guy on the phone, beer as donations, and a whole lot of tomatoes - and you should definitely check it out below!

While you're at it, just check out For How because that's also some super stellar alt-rock/emo music you can vibe to. Semiotics is also gearing up to go and play some shows with Brackish - check out those dates below (on the coolest poster I've ever seen).

For more info on Semiotics you can check back here where we'll be checking out their newest EP, and learning more about Semiotics - or you can just go straight to the source and check out their social media!
