Fairy Bones New Single Is A Genre Blend You Don't Want To Miss

Arizona-based alternative quartet Fairy Bones has recently released a fast-paced music video for their latest single "No One Can Suffer Like I Can."

Check it out below!

Vocalist Chelsey Louise addresses her own struggles with depression with a self-effacing sense of humor in the song, "I'll tell myself, ‘Suck it up b---h, there's so much worse happening in the world.'," says Louise. "But I realized, if I don't help myself first, I'm cornering myself into being useless to others. I need to save myself before I can save anyone else. I use humor to mask the fact that I'm ‘suffering.’ So do others. Misery loves company and all that. It's kind of nice when someone else understands that. Just ’cause I post something nihilistic doesn't mean you need to be worried. I'm still working this all out myself so I don't want to come off like I have all the answers, or any answers for that matter, but that's where I'm at in my head right now"

The Kin Stream New Album "Modern Primitive"

the kin.jpg

Hailing from the arid kangaroo utopia of Australia, The Kin have had an extensive career, releasing record after record, year after year. They have an interesting past of musical creativity and hi-jinks, and this album is their capstone work. Having amassed a history of opening acts for many well known adult-alternative bands, they've decided this will be their final product, as they’ll be taking a permanent hiatus to pursue different musical endeavors.

The trio released Modern Primitive on a rainy January 27th.

Upon first listen, this seems like an example of where American Idol Star Chris Daughtry would have ended up if he never signed a record deal. Singer Isaac Koren has an very unparticular voice, coming across as more of a professional karyoke-er, than a broody frontman. Its better suited for the dramatic verse in a Swedish House Mafia song... really.

Still, there are parts of the album you nod to, so consider this one listenable.

Catch up with them on their website or facebook and twitter.

Cries of the Captive Begin The Regular Tour

Utah deathcore band Cries of the Captive will be embarking on their first tour, The Regular Tour, to promote their latest LP, called Totalitarian. This album is the follow-up to their successful Imperialist EP. The band will be touring to support the album alongside Shawshank Redeemed and Artesyn.

Cries of the Captive formed in 2011  by Tyler Conner and Jordan Huemiller, and they soon brought on other members. As a few musicians changed out, the band finally settled on the main line-up in 2013 when Conner stepped away from the band.

In 2013, they released their debut Imperialist EP to much praise, and were signed to Imminence Records in 2015. The new LP, Totalitarian, was released this past September.

Mason Blair said this about the upcoming tour: “This is our first tour we have done in the US and we will be playing all new music from our most recent album. Which means we are bringing our heaviest tunes through the west coast, so everyone should be ready to throwdown!”

Here are the Regular Tour dates, featuring Cries of the Captive, Artesyn, and Shawshank Redeemed.

In Letter Form Release Album

In Letter Form just recently released their new album Fracture. Repair. Repeat. The album features ten tracks, each one delivering the promise of In Letter Form's excellent throwback post-punk sound. The band is reminiscent of Joy Division, Bauhaus, and Echo & The Bunnymen, blending a few different styles of post-punk in a new and creative way.

The album goes through an emotional place. While writing the album, the band was dealing with the recent suicide of one of the member's girlfriend and the death of his best friend. The band was able to process their loss together in this creative output. The Hook will be reviewing Fracture. Repair. Repeat. soon, so stay tuned!

The lead single, “Face In The Crowd,” is available to check out on Soundcloud. The song is rocking and psychedelic. It's a great lead single to describe the overall sound of the album.

Esquela Shares New Album & Single

Esquela, from Bovina, NY, is proud to announce the release of their new album, Canis Majoris, out now from Livestock Music!

Canis Majoris is Esquela's 3rd studio album! Esquela is a five-piece country/Americana folk outfit in the style of classic 70's rock and rollers. John “Chico” Finn, the bassist and frontman, has taken pride in being able to write new spins on old classics.

"I listen to a lot of music and try to think of songs that would be unique or take a different angle. I try to come up with more than a cliché love song. Roscoe [Ambel, the album's producer] said I'm a "ripped from the headlines" type of guy. A lot of my songs are related to my real experiences," Finn elaborates on the creative process.

They have a “making-of” video about the new album, which you can watch here!

In addition, you can peep the video for "No Questions," below!

Whosah Premier Music Video

unnamed (2).jpg

Indiana grown indie-pop group, Whosah just recently dropped their sophomore EP, Work, last month! The EP was met with rave reviews, and in support of Work, Whosah release a brand new music video last week for their leading track, "Ghost Towns."

The video contrasts between frontman Spencer Grimes vocals on the track's upbeat, danceable tune compared to a picture of a desolate, isolated world amidst familiar settings. Whosah had this to say about the concept behind the video: "We wanted to capture the live, high energy feel of our performance but in a introspective, contained way. We really wanted the video to feel like a journey, an adventure in another world in which we're traveling --longing to find life but only finding empty spaces. For this video we wanted to contrast the literal nature of our moving picture for the rest of the record. The imagery in this song plays between an office space and an old ghost town, so we wanted the video to leave a little more space for the viewers to have their own creativity and connect with their own reality."
