Marcus Alan Ward Releases "Devil In Popular Culture"

A new single from multi-instrumentalist artist Marcus Alan Ward has been released! It's called “Devil In Popular Culture,” and it's a flowing, funky soulful alt-rock track that blends a genre mishmash with insightful commentary about our culture-based society.

"I think it taps into an increasing paranoia and cultural unease that's present in 2016," Ward says about the new single. "Sonically, it's a healthy mix of soul, garage rock, electro and beyond. I had a lot of fun with this one."

You can check out “Devil in Popular Culture” right here!

This is Ward's second single this year, coming after the release of “Little Sunshine” back in August.

You can check out the music video for that here!

After releasing his acclaimed album, Last Night I Grew Tentacles, in 2014, Ward decided to forego focusing on album releases and instead concentrate on releasing individual songs to make each new release a unique experience.

King Shelter, Orange County's premiere “salad rock” group, are about to undergo a short West Coast tour with Australian band Sticky Fingers. The band is looking forward to this tour to bring their unique sound on the road.

RVLS Releases "Heathens" Cover Music Video

Californian alternative pop group RVLS, hot off of their big 2016 Light Me Up US tour, have released a new music video. The video is a cover of the Twenty One Pilots song, “Heathens,” presented in RVLS' unique power-alt style. The video features footage from their tour, showcasing their high-energy performances.

Lead vocalist from RVLS, Kalie Wolfe, said the following about the new video: Honestly it just felt right, I heard it and instantly hit up my guitar player Micket and he had it back to me within an hour. I came in same day, did the vocals and then sent the tracks off to Cody Stewart (The Browning) to get it mixed and mastered, was a couple day process. It just was right.”

In 2015, RVLS released Haunted/Hunted, a 6-song EP of deep, personal tracks about moving past set-backs. The band's music is about working hard to reach your goals and to keep pushing on. They released a music video for the title track, “Haunted/Hunted,” which you can check out right here!

I The Mighty Make Big Announcements

Oil In Water is the title of the newly announce EP from San Francisco based alt rockers, I, The Mighty. The EP is set for release on September 2nd, days before the band's exciting fall tour with Dayshell, Artifex Pereo, and Picturesque!

Oil In Water will feature five totally reworked and re-imagined tracks from their full-length album, Connector. Fans are able to hear a track from the EP right now! “Andrew's Song” is available for streaming here!

Lead singer Brent Walsh says this about the concept for the new EP: “The idea behind the Oil In Water EP was to take some of our favorite tracks on our latest album Connector and re-imagine them in various different genres. Arranging and recording this EP was a ton of fun and allowed us the opportunity to explore a wide range of musical styles that we hadn't before as a band. The first release is a predominantly a cappella version of “Andrew's Song,” a track that never quite received the spotlight we wanted it to have."

I, The Mighty has been around since 2007, consisting of Walsh, Ian Pedigo (guitar), Chris Hinkley (bass), and Blake Dahlinger (drums). Their sophomore LP, Connector, was released in 2015 to great praise. The lead single, “Playing Catch with .22,” was well-received from many publications including Fuse, Guitar World, Rock Sound, Alternative Press, and New Noise Magazine.

HEIRSOUND Announce Debut EP

HEIRSOUND, the colorful alternative pop duo of Alexa San Román & Dane Petersen (formerly of Love, Robot) have just announced their upcoming debut EP!

The release is called Merge and it is set to come out on August 5th!

The band has been releasing music videos from the album. Each song represents a color, which represents a theme. The color theme is present in the music videos. You can watch the videos for “My Own” and “Do It Over” right here!

Petersen and San Román formed HEIRSOUND in December of 2014 as the two were moving on from previous musical outlets.

The band has said that “this EP represents to us both the collaboration of two artists from different hometowns, as well as a metaphorical bridge from both of our older bands' previous sounds to what HEIRSOUND is now. As our old bands were more heavily rock-influenced, this EP has both elements of that as well as more electronic sounds letting long-time fans ease into this new sound."

Keep an eye out for more music videos in the lead-up to the release of Merge. Here is the tracklist, along with the corresponding color theme to each song.

Merge Tracklist:
1. Choke - RED
2. My Own - BLUE
3. Slow Motion - ORANGE
4. Hoods Up - PURPLE
5. Fell Again - GREEN
6. Do It Over - YELLOW

Semiotics Release Music Video

Local New Jersey grown band, Semiotics, just released a brand new music video this week for their track, "Cheers Me Proper."

"Cheers Me Proper" comes straight off of their most recent EP, For How, which released in October 2015. The music video is a beautiful non-romantic (and awkward, and goofy) ode to playing basement shows - the guy on the phone, beer as donations, and a whole lot of tomatoes - and you should definitely check it out below!

While you're at it, just check out For How because that's also some super stellar alt-rock/emo music you can vibe to. Semiotics is also gearing up to go and play some shows with Brackish - check out those dates below (on the coolest poster I've ever seen).

For more info on Semiotics you can check back here where we'll be checking out their newest EP, and learning more about Semiotics - or you can just go straight to the source and check out their social media!

Night Argent Deconstructs Track

On March 24th, Night Argent debuted a deconstructed version of their track, "Nothing More Beautiful."

The track is from their upcoming self-titled EP, and has been a hit with listeners - amping people up for Night Argent's April 22 release. Night Argent stripped down the song, adding a cello and vocal beatbox accents, giving the original arena rock song a saucy, seductive feel.

"A couple months ago our manager asked us if we'd be willing to put together an acoustic version of our first single 'Nothing More Beautiful' as a bonus track for our EP. We loved the idea, but didn't want to play the exact same arrangement as the original just on acoustic instruments. We wanted to take the sound we created and deconstruct it, rebuild it with a new arrangement, and a completely new vibe. 'Nothing More Beautiful' has always had a big sound, so we decided to challenge ourselves and bring out a more chill and raw ambience to the track, while maintaining the emotional impact of the original." - Chase Manhattan

You can check out the track above on youtube!
