Philadelphia local, John Whip, is celebrating today with the premiere of his latest single, and greatest effort, "Electric Love." The jazz infused-pop single is one listeners can easily fall in love with, and Whip creates an intimate scene for you to get lost in.

Whip is an impressive force, but the singer did have help putting "Electric Love" together, of course. With the help of his regular band as well as some outsourcing, "Electric Love" includes John Whip (keys, vocals, production), Sam Carlen -(guitars, bass, additional keys), Craig Hamilton - drums & percussion), Ilya Setrakian - (keys for Electric Love), and Henry Tirfe - (tenor sax for Electric Love).

Between Whip's smooth voice and tender lyricism, his band also follows suit in a defined, crisp manner to make this track a true delight and experience to listen to. We've got the exclusive premiere of the track, streaming here on The Hook only!

Check it out below!

Whip describes how "Electric Love" came to fruition for us, "I wrote this song after accidentally falling in love with someone.  The way we all do when someone just says the right thing or smiles at you the perfect way.  They way that maybe we all think we shouldn’t because there are so many options and reasons to be alone. I knew I didn’t want it to be a jazz song though as that would limit my possibilities in a commercial world, but I knew that if I sung it a certain way and packaged the song a certain way, it could be pop - but still a different kind of pop.

I've just fallen in love with a lot of guys and wanted to explore what that means and who that makes me in the world we live in.

I just wanted people to relate to that other side of hookup culture that we don’t sing about. The part when we catch feelings / usually the worst part because feelings aren't always reciprocated ya know?"

Of course we relate to that, and "Electric Love" is the perfect song to put on while getting over those post hookup blues. John Whip should have lots more to give us if this is what he's already putting out - polished, professional work.

Traveling Songstress Jetty Rae Releases New Single

If you haven't yet heard of singer-songwriter Jetty Rae, its likely because she is always on the move, and difficult to pin down. For existing fans and new fans alike, we have some good news –the traveling songstress just released her new single "Queen of the Universe." Check it out below.

The traveling songstress is known as much for her catchy rhythms and sweet melodies as she is for her unconventional living situation.

Years ago, Jetty decided it was time to make a change and took a big leap of faith. She got rid of all of her superfluous belongings, and took off for the open road with her family (husband, two children, and pug), on a permanent tour around the U.S.

Years later, Jetty remains true to her decision, and states proudly, "I love the idea of being rich in adventure vs. being rich in stuff and things"

Mansell Drops New Album, "Mantra"

Atlanta based alternative trio Mansell have just released their debut full length album, Mantra

The group formed back in 2014, featuring Holden Fincher (Guitar/Vocals), Trent Bilodeau (Bass/Vocals), and Grayson Arias (Drums/Vocals). The three all came from various styles of music in the Atlanta music scene, but have come together to blend their alternative and indie roots into a sound all their own.

Mantra features some really interesting songwriting, and I find the record to be a solid dark pop album. From one moment to the next you're not sure whether you'll get an ambient soundscape, or a catchy pop refrain. Don't take my word for it though, listen to what Holden Fincher had to say about the record.

"It’s a record of consciousness. Specifically within ourselves, our environment and people in our lives, as well as our perception of the world as it was all expanding in various ways. Dissecting it all and wondering what it’s all made of and what it will make for us later on."

If all this has you saying "this is right up my alley" then you can listen to Mantra right on this very page!

If you're anywhere near Atlanta, then you can check Mansell out live on November 25 for their album release show at The Vinyl in Atlanta!

Geordie Kieffer Releases Official Music Video for “Red Line”

The infamously sexy and comedic imagination of LA’s agro-pop wiz-kid, Geordie Kieffer, premiers a delightfully twisted new video for his newest single, “Red Line” via Myspace

The singer-songwriter/producer, has been working day and night to recreate his own video — he explains, “One of my friends who happened to be in [the first version] got a big time movie deal and her agents wouldn’t let us put out ‘Red Line.’ Too graphic, not the right image. Therefore, we needed to start fresh with a new director, producer, et cetera.”

The video for “Red Line,” unlike its beloved precursor, “Tastes Like Chocolate,” is shot in a stark black-and-white, drawing a sharp contrast between the good and the evil within its three-minute running time. “This video was a fucking ball. I mean, who doesn’t like drugs, violence, and cake?!” Geordie posits. “Unlike ‘Tastes Like Chocolate,’ this video was shot very quickly. We had a concept that we liked and we wanted to get it done. My mom hates it, but she still loves me.”

Pop Rockers Harbour Unveil New Single

Cincinatti based indie pop/rock outfit Harbour have released a brand new song entitled “Runaway Kids."

The 5-piece band formed in 2014, and have already generated a strong fanbase who they have dubbed the "Runaway Kids," after their new single!

They’re already selling out shows, and Harbour has even performed at the Bunbury and Longstone Music Festivals. Their self-titled album was released in 2014, and since then they’ve put out another EP, With Love, and now two singles, “Sanibel” and “Runaway Kids."

You can listen to "Runaway Kids" right here!

“Runaway Kids” is a fun track with catchy pop melodies, and a laid back groovy sort of feel. It’s simple, yet effective. The lyrics talk about sharing moments with the people in your life, and reflecting upon those moments.

Harbour’s Ryan Green elaborates, "Imagination is the brightest aspect of our mind. We reminisce to simpler times because we're addicted to nostalgia. We're so focused on the next destination, the journey becomes obsolete but those are the memories we cherish the most. The best part is we can visit these moments anytime we'd like. We're all Runaway Kids, take your time, enjoy the ride, we'll get where we're going eventually."

HEIRSOUND Releases Music Video Off New EP

HEIRSOUND just released a new music video from their upcoming EP, Merge. The video is for “Hoods Up.” Each song from Merge represents a different color and mood. “Hoods Up” represents Purple, and that is reflected in the video.

You can check it out right here!

HEIRSOUND says about their new single, "'Hoods Up' is not about one particular incident as it is more about describing a particular feeling. The chorus says 'We've got our hoods up' & it means just that. That mood where you put on a big sweatshirt and headphones & zone out away from everyone. The darkest song on the EP, 'Hoods Up' is lyrically sad, yet melodically beautiful & we are both very happy with how it turned out."

Merge is set to release on 8/5/16. You can pre-order the album right here on iTunes!

You can also watch the previously released music videos for the singles “My Own” and “Do It Over”!

Brand New Music Video From Taylor Colson

Beaming from the “sunshine state,” South Florida pop-artist, Taylor Colson, widely respected for her impressive vocal range and ability to recreate current Top 40 hits into her own masterpieces, exclusively releases her new music video, “You Want It” with Paste Magazine.

The basic composition of the tune most reflects “Jealous” by Nick Jonas who is one of the many artists she covered. Other artists include but are not limited to Demi Lavato, BEBE Rexha, Justin Bieber, and Meghan Trainor. Her cover videos have become a sensation on Youtube, accumulating upward of half a million views and securing her a solid online presence and fan base. In addition, the videos had landed her recognition from MTV and features in popular retail stores such as Steve Madden, and Justice worldwide.

“You Want It” is a song from her forthcoming EP and was a personal track written after she had a fight with her boyfriend and is about the desire of wanting to feel secure in a relationship. The EP it itself is  merely an audible, chronological tale of the first time she fell in love. She explains:
I think getting into a relationship for anyone is a scary thing no matter how right it may feel. The EP is a representation of fully giving yourself to someone but letting them know very clearly not to hurt you or play games.

Colson worked with a team of people at a company based in South Florida, Afflux studios to produce both the song and video  [Song- Producer: Arcaeus, Engineer: Bryan James, Mix & Mastered: Bryan James, Written By: Bryan James, Erik Chokanis, Taylor Colson, Video- Director & Editor: Bobby Keegan].

Mix-and-mash artist, Taylor Colson constructed her own organic sound from the pop music that she covered in the beginning of the career. Her first performance was at the age of 5 in front of a crowd of 500. For many, performing anything in front of a group as small as ten people would push sweat through their palms, but the young prodigy put on a show like a well-established professional. Making herself comfortable and familiar with the stage at an early age enabled her to pursue her career full time at the age of 15. Five years later at 20 years old, she now prepares to release her original debut EP.

Catch Taylor Colson opening for B.O.B on June 25th in South Florida at The Hangar. For tickets and more information, visit her website.
