What kind of Valentine would we be if we weren't giving you a gift? Well, don't you worry, we didn't forget - and neither did Pennsylvania favorites, Serencia; because what better gift is there than the gift of music?
The 4 piece indie/folk band from Lancaster, PA is comprised of Derek (Vocals-Guitar), Lily (Cello), Hannah (Vocals), and Bryce (Guitar). Together, with AGL Sounds, Serencia made their most recent album Morning Blues, which released in November of 2017. Both Morning Blues & their first album, A Leap of Faith, A Violent Shove, are available for stream & download.
However, we're not here to talk about that - as much fun as it is. We're here to exclusively bring you a Valentines Day dreamboat of a song. "I Touch Heaven" is Serencia's latest release, a tribute to Grandfather, Dick Hanna, and his original song "I Touch Heaven (With My Hand)" recorded in the 1980's.
Check it out exclusively streaming below via Serencia's bandcamp & The Hook Journal and get the tissues ready!
The sweet, somber track is right in line with Serencia's current sound - a perfect addition to the discography and collection they're currently building.
"This song is especially important to me, it is a song that my Great Grandpa wrote back in the 1980's and had pressed onto vinyl. I've always loved the song and wanted to honor his work by bringing it to a new generation. Lily (Eckman) and I originally recorded it on our first album A Leap of Faith, A Violent Shove, but since we added Bryce (Sadler) and Hannah (Hensely) and had such a great experience working with AGL Sounds on our new album Morning Blues, it felt like this was a great time to revisit this song as a full band interpretation," says Derek Paris Frantz of the revival track.
So, spend this Valentines Day with someone or something you love, put on "I Touch Heaven" and drink lots of water. Check out Serencia on their social media, and definitely check out their most recent album release Morning Blues if you dig this. Otherwise, as always, thanks for reading and make sure to catch up on their social media links to never miss a moment!

"I wanted to create a song that explored the feelings of someone going through an anxiety attack for the first time, i know when i myself had my first panic attack, i felt as though something was seriously wrong, in an extreme thought even possibly dying or having a heart attack. We as humans tend to internalize our emotions when things get hectic forgetting that sometimes we need to express our feelings in however way we see fit. This song was my approach in expressing a feeling that many of us experience often," says Wilde of the track.

One month into 2018 and Swedish musician Petrus Nordh is already onto their second single!
"Blank Piece of Paper" is the latest release, and according to Petrus Nordh, the musician is using a guitar tuning of his own invention, playing both guitar and bass at the same time. Later on adding vocals, keyboard and percussion. The "syncopated, latin tinged funk groove" is mainly influenced by D’Angelo, Charlie Hunter and Sly & The Family Stone while the lyrics deal with the creative process and realizing nothing will be done if you don’t just start.

Did you miss Rich People's latest release & music video? Well, let's bring you up to speed then. Earlier this month, Philly/Jersey band Rich People shared a brand new music video for their track 'Back Step,' another emotional song from the band - one you're sure to fall in love with.
Check out the video below!
Lead singer Rob had this to say, 'The lyrics are from the perspective of a very self-involved musician who is often so wrapped up in their own writing and playing that they forget to maintain relationships. The attitude of being better-than and isolating from others starts with the first words. “I always start to finish just before you start to come up” refers to the narrator’s struggle with seeing others as lazy and incompetent at times and by the conclusion of the second verse his cool indifference has amassed and been distilled into the statement “Love is cool, Love is fine, Love is wondering if I have the time”. The truth is that the writer is just lazy and incompetent in matters of interpersonal relationships and humility.
It’s hard for like minds like mine to set aside some together time when our passions call for so much solitude. The farther we pull apart, the more the threads seem to pull and leave us exposed and threadbare. There’s a balance between our commitment to the things that make us interesting and attractive to others, and our need to spend ourselves on each other. I haven’t found that balance but I will continue to write about my efforts and make pretty visuals with my friends to further express what I am feeling.'
This one really hit home for us, honestly. The unraveling of the track matches the unraveling of the video, of the way we feel even. We've been a fan of Rich People for a little while now, and while their tracks our always succeeding in connecting with listeners on a deeper level, 'Back Step' is a really poignant track to end the year with, so definitely check it out above.
As always we've got their social media down below if you wanna check out more!

Hailing from Long Island, NY Amanda Jayne has been bringing the energetic, emotional touch to her music since her debut album back in 2016. To wrap up 2017, however, Jayne has shared the second part to her first music video, 'Bruising.'
'Bruising Pt. II' video was filmed inside the Pollock-Krasner House in East Hampton, NY: the home to artists Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner. Check out the video below!
“This song and video are extremely personal to me,” says Jayne. “I am creating from
experience. Every detail you hear in ‘Bruising’ is accurate to the situation I was in. Making
this song has been a cathartic experience, and I’m glad I got to rework it to highlight the
themes and attract the listener even more.”

"The Vampire of Hanover" is The Clydes Halloween contribution, and the third and final single off of their upcoming full-length, So The Story Goes, due out on October 20th via Mint Records.
Check it out below!
The song premiered on New Noise Magazine where the band shared, "Brian, our guitarist, likes to read about crime, and he came across an article in the New York Daily News about this guy, Fritz Haarmann. He was a German serial killer known as the Vampire of Hanover. He handed Brent, our lead singer, a tape of a song he was working on and showed him the article and said, 'Write about this.' Brent wrote the lyrics from the killer’s point of view. That became 'The Vampire Of Hanover,' the song. Brian feels it’s one of his best pieces of music he’s written. The rest of the album is more uplifting – songs about standing up for yourself and trying to find the best version of yourself. It’s our fifth recording overall and our second on Mint 400 Records. But we feel it’s by far our most complete work."
